NASHVILLE, TN (June 27, 2025) — Nashville-based indie artist Whitney Fenimore returns with a bold new single that speaks directly to the heart of identity, faith, and belonging. Out today, “Wrong About Jesus” is a cathartic reclamation of story — flipping the script on exclusion and shame with gospel-inspired power and piercing honesty.

Co-written with Nell Maynard (Brooke Eden) and Lilly Hart and produced by David Gungor (The Brilliance), the track layers soulful vocals and vibrant horns over lyrics that challenge the rigid beliefs Whitney grew up around in Tulsa, Oklahoma — a conservative, faith-based community where she often felt unseen.

“This song is my way of pushing back,” Whitney shares. “It’s not about being critical. It’s about creating a space where I could be honest about what I’ve experienced and witnessed. I didn’t write it to take aim — I wrote it to feel seen.”

A standout semi-finalist on The Voice (Season 13), Whitney has since earned coverage from PEOPLE Magazine, NPR, and No Depression, thanks to the emotional depth of her 2022 album Leaving Ashwood and her continued evolution as a sharp, self-aware storyteller. She’s taken the stage at SXSW, shared bills with GRAMMY-winner Lori McKenna, and landed a publishing deal with legendary producer Ken Caillat (Fleetwood Mac, Colbie Caillat).

With previous singles like “Thin Line,” “New Normal,” and “Better Than Lonely,” Whitney has proven her ability to craft songs that cut deep — and “Wrong About Jesus” is no exception. It’s a statement of liberation wrapped in melody, offering something rare: conviction without condemnation.

Through it all, Whitney remains grounded in her belief that music is a lifeline — a way to connect, cope, and heal. “It’s really an extension of me,” she says. “I’d feel pretty lost without it. I do my best to live authentically, and I hope that comes through in the songs.”

Whether performing solo with a guitar or fronting a full band, Whitney Fenimore delivers a kind of sincerity you feel in your chest — quietly powerful, deeply human, and entirely her own.
