NASHVILLE, TN (June 17, 2025) — Indie-pop artist Blue Monkey, the creative moniker of Charlee Remitz — praised by LA Weekly, American Songwriter, and Alternative Press — has delivered a reflective music video for “Ageless,” the title track to their recently unveiled debut LP Ageless (June 6). The 11-track album is a sweeping exploration of freedom, patience, and self-reinvention, combining evocative vocals, cinematic production, and genre-defying instrumentation into a richly textured listening experience.

STREAM AGELESS HERE.

Blue Monkey shares the inspiration behind the music video, describing it as a visual journey through time that reflects the past, present, and future. Filmed across three symbolic locations — their hometown of Bozeman, MT, their current base in Nashville, TN, and their aspirational future in Destin, FL — the video captures the evolving chapters of life through the lens of the artist’s personal story.

“I thought I would grow into presence the same way we grow into our shoes, or settle into our careers, or become routine in our relationships,” Blue Monkey explains. “Instead, that original compulsion I had as a teen to lust after the future has followed me into adulthood, only now, we have smartphones, and our smartphones have mastered the art of addiction. To be a kid is to be curious about what's in store, and to counteract that urgency with play. As adults, everything feels so much more serious because the immortalization of youth has gone. I ache at this widespread unconsciousness.”

The extended edition of Ageless, featuring two new tracks, will be released Friday, August 8.

Blurring the lines between ambient pop, indie-folk, and experimental storytelling, Blue Monkey’s music lives in the in-betweens — indie that doesn’t stick to the script, pop without the polish, and lyricism that aims straight for the heart. Ageless embraces imperfection and wonder, encouraging listeners to step outside the constraints of identity and into a freer, more imaginative version of self.

“Over the years, I’ve experienced an intentional softening,” shares Blue Monkey. “I was, at one time, deeply unaffected by my own life... I wandered into whimsy. I became gentle and soft, and it was all owing to an intuition that everything I’d been through — whether divine, careless, impulsive, or reckless — was meant for me and could be reclaimed as such.”

PRAISE FOR BLUE MONKEY AND AGELESS:

“Through the new persona Blue Monkey, Remitz has released a series of songs that blend genres and instrumentation freely, combining synths and banjo, pop-hook melodies and folk. It’s artful, joyous and fresh.”

— Andrew Frolish, AmericanaUK, December 6, 2024

"Ageless, by Blue Monkey, is a deep dive into nostalgia, change and emotional growing pains. With lush, cinematic arrangements and descriptive lyrics, the album invites listeners to revisit their own coming-of-age moments in both longing and personal reflection.”

-Sawyer Rabin,mxdwn, June 10, 2025

“‘Golden Rule’ sees Blue Monkey leaning into gentle, soft-focus folk pop, accompanying her lilting vocals with plaintive acoustic tones and feather-light harmonies. The track pulls its name and themes from a quote from Victorian poet William Morris…Fittingly, Blue Monkey keeps to this principle in the track itself, bringing out a sparse arrangement laced together by beautiful subtleties like echoing guitar accents and ethereal synth tones.”

— Caleb Campbell, Under the Radar, January 24, 2025

“Blue Monkey[’s]…light, charming folk-pop is truly a breath of fresh air.”
— Rachel Alm, Riff Magazine, February 4, 2025

Blue Monkey — named for “Chuen,” the 11th sign in the Mayan Zodiac, symbolizing the birth of creativity — emerged with a series of singles leading up to the album: Pylons (Aug. 16), Pretty Things (Sept. 13), Common Enemies (Nov. 22), Dive Bar Christmas(Dec. 6),  Golden Rule (Jan. 31), Everything You Do Is Meant for You(Mar. 7), and most recently, Gleaming (May 2). “Golden Rule” earned praise from Under the Radar for its “gentle, soft-focus folk pop,” and was featured on Apple Music’s “New in Alternative” playlist.

“The moniker, in a way, removes the presence of impact, returning the art to its most primitive stages — creation, or else,” Blue Monkey explains.
