NASHVILLE, TN (February 2, 2023) — Today, electrifying country rock artist Kelsey Hickman has delivered “American Boy.” Seamlessly combining her gritty rock edge and sassy country lyricism, the song marks the final single from her upcoming five-track EP, Lights Out, set to be released on Friday, February 16.

Accompanied by an exhilarating music video that vividly captures the essence of the song with scenes of Kelsey rocking out in the countryside, she expresses, “‘American Boy’ holds a special place in my heart on my new EP for two reasons. It embodies a rock sound with a country music attitude, and it’s dedicated to the ladies who can match the energy of the boys.”

In preparation for her debut country rock project, Kelsey recently released a slew of singles. Among these are “LUVUH8U,” with an emotionally stirring official music video garnering over 100k views on YouTube in just three weeks and making headlines at Taste of Country in their Top Country Videos of the Week roundup. Previously, the dynamic singer shared “Love Is For Suckers”  — noted by MXDWN as an “ode to introspection with delightfully raw lyricism and impassioned vocals that will leave fans and critics alike wanting more” — and lead single “Novocaine.”

Produced by Donn Miggs — renowned for collaborating with legendary artists such as Mick Fleetwood and Tower of Power — Lights Out pays homage to the impact of genuine, raw authenticity. Fueled by a purpose of inspiring listeners to feel comfortable embracing their feelings and not being afraid to “lose their shit” when necessary, Kelsey promises the EP to be a must-listen for fans of emotionally charged, country rock music.

After a tenure with midwest band Still Kickn’ — which gave her the opportunity to open for Lady A, Montgomery Gentry, Easton Corbin & Tracy Lawrence — Kelsey’s began her journey as a solo artist in 2013 when the band decided to part ways. She shared her first full-length solo country album, Gypsy, in 2016. Teaming up with GRAMMY-nominated producer Kent Wells and songwriter Bill DiLuigi, she proved her talent and potential on the album.

In the years that followed, her love for rock ‘n’ roll and her country roots led her to embrace her inner rebel spirit and evolve her sound. And in 2022, Kelsey’s country rock sound got a fresh makeover when she started working with Don Miggs. With Miggs’ help, she reinvented and refined her sound, giving it a fresh edge and authenticity that fans are sure to love.
