LOS ANGELES, CA (September 23, 2022) –– Los Angeles-based singer/songwriter Anna Moon is embarking on her own journey. Previously the frontwoman of the dream pop band Moxi, she is now branching out on her own. The title track from her upcoming five-song EP, Psychic Visions, marked the first release from Anna in over a decade. She now brings us her second single — “Holy Water” — out today. Really letting her folk influences shine through, the emotional and subdued song details Anna’s account of an abusive relationship she witnessed her mother go through.

“Holy Water” touches on the roles women play in society and how they’re breaking free, both individually and collectively, “It’s probably my favorite song on the EP,” Anna admits. “I’m so proud of it. And I’m proud of the message it holds. It’s my small contribution to the discussion on the power of women.”

Stream / Download “Holy Water” here.

With an authentic, stripped-down approach — and really tapping into the emotional landscapes of each song — Psychic Visions, out Friday, October 21, is Anna’s most personal project yet.

Having broken into the indie music scene as a member of Moxi, Anna stears away from the electronic-driven sound of her previous band in this new endeavor. Finally ready to look her past in the eye, Anna began processing the only way she knew how: through her art. Pouring her all into this project, she now is ready to give this record to the world and celebrate no longer living in those spaces of fear, trauma or outdated thought processes.

Growing up in Littleton, CO, Anna started writing songs after being gifted her first guitar at 14 years old. “Littleton in the 90's particularly had an entire vibe of its own,” Anna shares, “It’s hard to even explain it unless you were there but the music on this EP is heavily influenced by that.” It’s a town with equally gorgeous nature right in your backyard, but there’s also a darker undercurrent and heaviness to it. “There’s kind of this expansive open feeling to it because there’s so much space but it feels a little haunting at the same time,” explains Anna. “There’s this park near my childhood home  that has this huge tree on top of a hill that my sister and I would go to all the time, and if the record could look like something it would be that park in the winter.”

After leaving Littleton, Anna made her way to Los Angeles where she has found the space to be able to go back to herself. “Los Angeles has influenced my music equally but in a much different way,” Anna discloses, “I feel like the roots of it are in Littleton and where I come from but Los Angeles has shaped the way it’s grown and evolved into what it is now.” Living in LA kickstarted a healing journey that has since led Anna to tap into her authentic self.

“We can’t really heal until we find the root of the problem and take a good hard look at it.  I suppose that’s what these songs are: they are truly me: honest, vulnerable, coming back to myself, and splayed out for everyone to see,” she admits, “Which feels terrifying and beautiful all at once. And so I give this record to the world now and celebrate that I no longer live in those spaces of fear, trauma, or outdated programming.” Laced with unabashed sincerity, Psychic Visions is a raw embodiment of Anna’s voyage through healing, acceptance and growth.
