LOS ANGELES, CA (October 21, 2022) Los Angeles-based singer/songwriter Anna Moon has been embarking on her own journey. Having broken into the indie music scene as a member of Moxi, Anna stears away from the electronic-driven sound of her previous band in this new endeavor — her first solo record in over a decade and most personal project — Psychic Visions, an in-depth exploration of her childhood, out today.

Stream / Download Psychic Visions here.

“It’s a dreamy, pieced together, blurry offering of my experience growing up as a highly sensitive, artistic child,” Anna shares on the inspiration behind the EP. “The songs give a glimpse into my formative years and include some of my first memories, an honest reflection of me as an adult starting to really understand how these early experiences shaped my whole life up until now. The songs tell stories of generational trauma, grief, abuse, mental health struggles, and how we can only love others as much as we love ourselves.”

Psychic Visions track listing:
“Holy Water”
“Psychic Visions”
“KG”
“I Don’t Want It Bad Enough”
“Moon Eyes”

Leading with the title track as the first single, Anna showcases exactly what to expect from this new project with “Psychic Visions.” A lyrical depiction of her childhood, the song highlights the themes woven into the fabric of this record; an attempt at alchemy, representing pain turned into art. An experienced songwriter, Anna draws you in with her unique storytelling, emotional performance, and authenticity. As Anna says, “get your tissues out, it’s time for us all to take a deep look within.”

Wonderland Magazine exclusively unveiled the EP’s sophomore single praising: “The languid guitar accompaniment and wistful vocals of Anna Moon’s folk-oriented “Holy Water”... the optimum soundscape for the singer-songwriter’s intricate story of human experience.” The emotional and subdued song details Anna’s account of an abusive relationship she witnessed her mother go through.

“It’s probably my favorite song on the EP,” she admits. “I’m so proud of it. And I’m proud of the message it holds. It’s my small contribution to the discussion on the power of women.” “Holy Water” channels the experiences of the women in her life and letting her folk influences shine through, Anna floats through the emotional and subdued song with honest conviction and the influence of the growth she’s endured.

“We can’t really heal until we find the root of the problem and take a good hard look at it. I suppose that’s what these songs are, they are truly me: honest, vulnerable, coming back to myself, and splayed out for everyone to see,” Anna admits, “Which feels terrifying and beautiful all at once. And so I give this record to the world now and celebrate that I no longer live in those spaces of fear or outdated programming.” Laced with unabashed sincerity, Psychic Visions is a raw embodiment of Anna’s voyage through healing, acceptance and growth.

Growing up in Littleton, CO, Anna started writing songs after being gifted her first guitar at 14 years old. “Littleton in the 90's particularly had an entire vibe of its own,” Anna shares, “It’s hard to even explain it unless you were there but the music on this EP is heavily influenced by that.” It’s a town with equally gorgeous nature right in your backyard, but there’s also a darker undercurrent and heaviness to it. “There’s kind of this expansive open feeling to it because there’s so much space but it feels a little haunting at the same time,” explains Anna. “There’s this park near my childhood home  that has this huge tree on top of a hill that my sister and I would go to all the time, and if the record could look like something it would be that park in the winter.”

After leaving Littleton, Anna made her way to Los Angeles where she has found the space to be able to go back to herself. “Los Angeles has influenced my music equally but in a much different way,” Anna discloses, “I feel like the roots of it are in Littleton and where I come from but Los Angeles has shaped the way it’s grown and evolved into what it is now.” Living in LA kickstarted a healing journey that has since led Anna to tap into her authentic self.
