CAPITAL VICES
--EMERGING METALCORE BAND--
RELEASE NEW ASTROLOGICAL EP
ZENITH

NASHVILLE, TN (March 19, 2021) - Chicago, IL-based five-piece metalcore band Capital Vices (an alternative name to the seven deadly sins) have released Zenith, the first installment of a two-part astrology concept album. The six-track EP, which balances chaotic riffs and rhythms with progressive build-ups, arrives backed with praise. NEW NOISE raved, “[‘Gemini’] showcases intense syncopation, heavy dynamics, infectious melodies and sets the tone for the EP’s remaining five songs.”

On Zenith, Capital Vices tackle six of the 12 astrological signs. “We hope fans can enjoy the wild and diverse music and learn about the general aspects of different Astrological signs,” says vocalist Kevin Avola. “Astrology is important to people all over the world and this is our rendition of the Western version of it.”

“We have worked very hard to create better music structures and avoid the mistakes of this EPs’ predecessors,” adds drummer Matt Lathan. “There’s a reason it took us three years. There was a group obsession to not let anything slide in terms of uncertainty. If there was even a shred of doubt about anything we wrote, it was worked out until we all were okay with what we had.”

Some might consider the band’s ultimate sin--which made international headlines with Stereogum, Consequence of Sound and Kerrang, among others--performing in a Wendy’s fast food restaurant while touring through Tennessee in 2019. The band was on the road promoting their recent release, Exit Here (2018). Then came a derailing pandemic that allowed the band to get back in the studio and lay the groundwork for Zenith. “No future performances at any venue or fast-food restaurant is in the works, but it's also not out of the question once shows are back on,” devilishly grins Avola.

The band--Kevin Avola (clean & unclean vocals), Matt Lathan (drums / unclean vocals), Rob Pelletier (guitar / clean & unclean vocals), Matt Wolter (guitar) and Matt Watkins (bass guitar)--are prepping the second installment of their two-part album for a late summer release.
