Anna says: “After living in Brooklyn for about a year, I felt a little more grounded in my writing and had really found my sound. I recorded the first five songs with JT Daly down in Nashville. Coming home, I went thru a really bad breakup and I felt like everything I had semi figured out was all twisted up again. I was back at square one—that’s when I wrote ‘Someone’ with Will Baker at his studio in Brooklyn. I knew that song had to be on the EP. It’s a true bookend to a chapter in my life that contained a lot of heartbreak. I guess if I’ve learned one thing from writing Everything Is Embarrassing it’s that the more you grow and learn, the less clear everything becomes. Life is just about navigating and becoming comfortable with the uncomfortable.”

Ladygunn recently named Anna an “artist to watch in 2020” and raved that new album is “bop after bop of synthy, fun tracks that you can get up and dance or chill and get high to.” Billboard noted that “Shoemaker flows freely and honestly” while PopDust has called her “Fun, intimate and pleasantly strange.”

Everything is Embarrassing, the six-track collection that was released on February 28, features the sophomore single, “Funny,” and lead single, “If You’re Going (I’ll Go). Refinery29 raved, “If this is what Gen Z is going to be like musically, I am all in. Shoemaker is a 23-year-old NYC based singer/songwriter and the gritty realness of this song [‘If You’re Going (I’ll Go)’] has me captivated.”

About Anna Shoemaker:

The 25-year-old artist became a SoundCloud sensation with her viral mashup of Kendrick Lamar’s “Bitch Don’t Kill My Vibe” and Chance the Rapper’s “Cocoa Butter Kisses,” which she recorded on her bedroom floor. The song now has over 869,000+ streams and caught the attention of key tastemakers and fashion mogul Steve Madden. Shoemaker then signed to 5Towns Records in late 2017 when she was chosen as Steve Madden’s Emerging Artist of the Year. In September of 2018, Shoemaker released her debut EP, East Side, produced by GRAMMY- nominated producer JT Daly. While still catchy and pop, the new songs feel more vulnerable and personal than ever. She finds putting pen to paper is often the best way to process her emotions, thus creating raw and honest lyricism that will certainly define Shoemaker’s releases.
